Why is the Kickstart Scheme such a great opportunity?

As an employer you will benefit from all of the below:

The government will fund your new starters salary in full at minimum wage rates, for 6 months based on a 25 Hour week.

Under the Kickstart Scheme the government will reimburse the employer for the trainees minimum pension contribution.

As part of the scheme all Employers national insurance contributions for applicants will be reimbursed by the government.

A £1,500 GRANT

For every 16-24 year old hired through the scheme, the government will cover up to £1,500 for Training, Onboarding, Equipment and additional costs to house your new employees comfortably and safely.

About the Kickstart Scheme

The scheme is available to employers looking to get support to fund NEW positions that they would otherwise be unable to offer if it were not for the scheme.

There is no obligation on the employer to retain the employee after the six-month window (although it is hoped that employers would want to in at least some cases)

Employers are NOT obliged to increase the employees hours above the contracted 25 hours per week and the employers are not obliged to pay any increased supplementary wage – Naturally should you wish to pay a higher wage that is entirely up to you, the Government however will only reimburse employers to the level of 25 hours per week at National Minimum Wage or National Living Wage depending on the employees age.

When Does it Start?

The scheme is now LIVE and placements are happening now.

This programme is designed to build young people’s experience and leave them with practical skills and experience for future employment opportunities.

If your business could benefit from an extra pair of hands and you meet the criteria listed below, please complete our registration form and a member of our team will get in touch with you to discuss your company’s individual requirements.

The Kickstart Scheme is being hailed cross-party as an excellent opportunity not only to empower businesses to grow, but also invest in young people, providing them with an opportunity, early in their careers, especially when many are struggling to find opportunities amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

As we only work with official Government approved Kickstart Gateways, we are here to support your business by confirming your eligibility, guiding you through the process and applying on your behalf, all at no cost to you.

Is my Business eligible to take part in the government kickstart scheme?

Most employers will be eligible to participate in the scheme but there are a few pieces of criteria you must meet

Your placements cannot replace existing or previously planned vacancies

Must not cause existing employees, apprentices or contractors to lose or reduce their employment

Job placements must be for a minimum of 25 Hours per week

The vacancies are only made possible by the kickstart scheme

Employers must pay at least the National Minimum Wage or National Living Wage for the age group of the employee

There should not be any prolonged intensive job specific training required at the commencement of employment

Employers will need to assist the employee to become more employable in the future. This should include Career Advice, Goal Setting, support with CV and Interview preparations along with developing general workplace skills – This is funded by way of the Government grant per Kickstart employee taken on.
